As the member of Union of International Fairs (UFI), the international exhibition of Die & Mould technology and equipment for China (DMC for short), jointly organized by China Die and Mould Industry Association and Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd., has been held annually since 1986. During the period of even-year exhibitions, the assessment of the “Outstanding Mould Award” plays a positive role in promoting companies’ technical exchange, economic cooperation, equipment purchase, market development, and trade expansion. This year, the 15^th International Exhibition on Die & Mould Technology and Equipment and Forum on Forming Technology and Mould will still be held in Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 4th to 7th June 2014, during which Shanghai International Auto Parts Show will be held together at the same place as well.

● Mould is a carrier of high-technology, and nowadays, mould industry in China has already switched from skill-based industry to technology-based. The technology solutions of integration of mould and press, integration of mould and plastics, integration of mould and fixture have became the part of mould products. As the intermediate link between product design and mass production, mould takes charge of the bidirectional mission, moving upstream to take part in design verification and modification and downstream to become the supplier of mould parts manufacturing. With diversified needs of consumer market, mould industry even acts as the carrier of in-fashion technology, whose accuracy and surface quality is the key to achieving high quality of end-products. In 2012, the sales of China mould saw year-on-year rise of about 11%, and the output value was close to 200 billion RMB; the total mould import & export value of China reached 6.2 billion US dollar, which grew by 18.6%, while the total export value was 3.73 billion US dollar, rising by 25% and the total import value was 2.5 billion US dollar, rising by 11%. The total mould import & export value of China reached 3.2 billion US dollar in the first half year of 2013, which grew by 11.5%, while the total export value was 1.97 billion US dollar, rising by 16% and the total import value was 1.22 billion US dollar, rising by 4.9%. In general, what happened in China mould industry shows that the market needs have continuously increased, and the industry has stably developed.

● Mould business has close relationship with other industries, which not only serves for traditional components forming industry such as machinery, automobile and electronics etc, but also other new emerging industry, like medical device, aviation, rail transport etc. Mould has become the technical and equipment support of manufacturing and mass production, meanwhile, since the center of manufacturing are shifted to China, and the China mould has high performance-to-price ratio in the international mould purchasing market, the mould industry in China has boundless development prospects.

● With the development of mould industry, the new round of equipment purchase has some new features. The overall level of mould industry stands at the forefront of manufacturing in terms of precision machining and computer integration technology, meanwhile, the demand for forming equipments and new material forming technologies is growing quickly. In 2013, China die & mould industry invested up to tens of billion RMB to increase the fixed assets, which was not only used for purchasing precision processing machinery, but also, in a large proportion, purchasing forming equipments. The survey of key enterprises in China die & mould industry shows that on the basis of the existing manufacturing capacity, most of them extend their industrial chain, and actively construct the production line for mould parts manufacturing. The quality of die & mould has been improved since the technical reconstruction of advanced CNC machining center, CNC milling machine, precision EDM, precision grinder and high-precision measuring equipment etc, on the basement of which, the purchasing of pressure facility, plastics machinery, die casting machine is increasing annually. Furthermore, die & mould manufacturing technology develop at the same pace with forming technology and forming equipment, and it becomes more and more common to provide manufacturing industry with the solution by using integration of mould and press, integration of mould and plastics, integration of mould and fixture etc. Besides, the demands for advanced manufacturing software and tools also become more vigorous than before.
